Arizona

The Copper State

Welcome to Arizona: Where the Sun Never Takes a Break, the Cacti Are Taller Than You Think, and the only place you can seriously think about cooking an egg on asphalt

The Grandiose Canyon

On our tour of the western side of the US, one of our stops was the Grand Canyon. Located northwest of Arizona, its spectacular geographic formations are carved by the Colorado River.

Eagle Point

If this helps with orientation, this was the side of the Grand Canyon we were on. There was an amphitheater that has performances, but even cooler might even include various Indigenous tribes.

Ways to get around

Again, we did not do any of these, but there was a glass overlook you can walk to see just how high you are. You also could take a helicopter ride that brings you closer to the canyon and the Colorado River.

Story Time:

From what I remembered, after we got off the tour bus, the workers at the Grand Canyon actually gave us a free meal. It was not glamorous, but it showed the hospitality of the people in Arizona. It was a beautiful gesture, and gave us some strength to explore the canyon! Beside is the map of the area of the grand canyon we were at!

One of the best parts of visiting the Grand Canyon was the culture we were immersed in. Our tour guide explained the importance of the Grand Canyon to Indigenous tribes, whose culture, traditions, and spiritual practices are deeply tied to the land and its preservation.
